NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a public hearing will be held by the Town Board of the Town of Cheektowaga, Erie County, New York at the Town Hall, 3301 Broadway, Cheektowaga, New York, on the 19th day of December, 2016 at 6:45 P.M. on said day for the purpose of considering the adoption of Local Law Intro No. 2016-6 of the Year 2016 entitled “A Local Law to Amend the Landlord Licensing Law”. A summary of such Local Law is as follows:
LOCAL LAW INTRO NO. 2016-6 OF THE YEAR 2016
A LOCAL LAW TO AMEND THE LANDLORD LICENSING LAW
The purpose of this law is to expand the landlord licensing requirement to owner occupied or non-owner occupied properties to obtain a rental housing business license from the Town of Cheektowaga in order to lease their properties.
Also, this law would change the fine imposed for not submitting an acceptable application from “Five hundred dollars for each thirty day period” to a “Five hundred dollar fine per licensing period” an acceptable application is submitted; payment of such fine(s) does not negate the requirement to comply with the provisions of Local Law Section 194.
Also, this law would change section 194-4 A. to delete “and issues a police report for same”.
Also, this law would delete the current section 194.4 C.
Also, this law would change 194-4 B. to 194-4 C. and add the wording “petition for eviction” and “for the same renter”.
Also, this law would change 194.4 B. to read “Fines as specified above shall be imposed separately for multiple incidents occurring in the same day.
Also, this law would change 194-8 Applicability to read “This laws shall be applicable to all rental dwellings owner occupied or non-owner occupied located in the Town of Cheektowaga outside of the villages of Depew and Sloan.
