Supervisor's Proclamation of December 15, 2017 as William E. Fichtner Day

            WHEREAS, actor William E. Fichtner, one of Hollywood's most distinct and familiar faces, grew up in the Town of Cheektowaga and is a 1974 graduate of Maryvale High School; and

              WHEREAS, he has starred in such television productions such as "As The World Turns", "Grace Under Fire", "Prison Break" and is currently starring in "Mom"; and


              WHEREAS, he has starred in such movies as "Armageddon", "Blackhawk Down", "Perfect Storm", "The Lone Ranger", "Contact" and "Heat" and most recently wrapped his own film Cold Brook, that he directed, produced, wrote and starred in, that filmed here in Western New York; and  


              WHEREAS, he is a lifelong fan of the Buffalo Sabres and the Buffalo Bills; and


              WHEREAS, he passionately declares such hometown favorites as beef on weck, chicken wings and sponge candy as some of his favorite and most pursued culinary desires; and


              WHEREAS, he continuously presents himself as a quintessential ambassador for the Town of Cheektowaga; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT


              RESOLVED, that the Town Board does hereby proclaim December 15, 2017 as William E. Fichtner Day in the Town of Cheektowaga on the occasion of his appearance at the Dedication Ceremony renaming the Maryvale High School Performing Arts Center in his name.
